New Plumbing Fixture Installation in Sacramento, CA
New fixture installation is the plumbing work most often treated as simple, and the details that get skipped are the ones that cause problems later: a seized shutoff left in place, a wax ring on an unlevel flange, a disposal wired without a proper connection, or a fixture that does not match the existing rough in. American Energy Home Pros installs plumbing fixtures across the greater Sacramento area, and our licensed technicians (License #1083187) handle the rough in and the shutoffs, not just the fixture.
Fixtures We Install
- Toilets. Standard and comfort height, one and two piece, wall hung, and bidet seats. Includes flange assessment, which is where most toilet problems originate.
- Sinks and lavatories. Drop in, undermount, vessel, pedestal, and farmhouse. Farmhouse sinks in particular usually need drain and cabinet modification.
- Faucets and pot fillers. Kitchen, bath, bar, and utility, plus pot filler installations that require running a new supply line to the wall behind a range.
- Tubs and shower fixtures. Tub replacement, shower heads, hand showers, and trim, coordinated with valve work where the valve is also being changed.
- Garbage disposals. Replacement and new installation including the drain configuration and dishwasher connection.
- Refrigerator and ice maker lines, instant hot dispensers, water filtration, laundry boxes, hose bibs, and utility sinks.
What We Check Before Installing
- Shutoff valves. Angle stops seize with age, and a new fixture behind a shutoff that will not close means the next repair starts by killing water to the whole house. We replace them as a matter of course when they are questionable.
- Rough in dimensions. Toilet rough in distance, sink drain height, and faucet hole spacing all have to match the fixture. Confirming this before the old fixture comes out prevents the classic half finished bathroom.
- Flange condition and height. A cracked, corroded, or low toilet flange is the root cause of most rocking toilets and recurring seal leaks. Stacking wax rings is a workaround, not a repair.
- Drain and trap configuration. Undermount and farmhouse sinks often sit at a different height than what they replace, which changes the trap arm and can require a rework to keep proper slope and venting.
- Water pressure. High static pressure damages new fixtures quickly, so it is worth knowing before installing them.
- Supply lines. Old braided or plastic supply lines are a common failure point and cheap to replace during an installation rather than after.
Where Installations Go Wrong
The most common failure we are called to correct is a toilet installed on a damaged or low flange, which rocks, breaks the seal, and leaks into the subfloor for months before anyone notices. Second is a sink drain reworked without maintaining proper slope or venting, which produces slow drainage and gurgling that no amount of clearing fixes. Third is a fixture bought without checking the rough in, which stalls a project mid job. Fourth is leaving seized shutoffs in place, which quietly makes every future repair more expensive.
None of those are exotic. They are simply the steps that get skipped when a fixture swap is treated as a fifteen minute job.
Our Process
- Confirm fit before removal. Rough in, hole spacing, and drain height verified against the new fixture first.
- Price before work, including anything we find. Shutoff replacement, flange repair, or drain rework called out up front rather than added mid job.
- Remove and haul away. The old fixture goes with us.
- Install to code. New shutoffs and supply lines where needed, flange repaired or replaced, trap and vent configuration correct, fixture set level and secured, disposal and dishwasher connections made properly.
- Test under pressure. Fill, run, and inspect every connection, check drainage and flush performance, and confirm no movement in the fixture.
- Clean up and walkthrough. We show you the shutoffs and explain anything you should keep an eye on.
Remodeling or replacing?
We confirm the rough in before the old fixture comes out, so the project does not stall.
How We Verify the Installation
Every installation ends with the fixture under pressure and in use rather than merely connected. We fill and run, inspect all supply and drain connections for weeping, confirm drainage rate and, on a toilet, flush performance and a completely stable base with no rocking, verify the new shutoffs actually close, and check for movement or leakage after the fixture has been cycled several times. On disposals we confirm the mounting seal, the drain connection, and the dishwasher inlet, which is the connection most often left loose.
Why the Rough In Matters More Than the Fixture
Drain, waste, and vent configuration is code governed for a reason: a trap arm with the wrong slope or an improperly vented drain lets sewer gas into the house and produces chronic slow drainage that looks like a clog and is not. Reworking a sink drain without understanding venting is the single most common way a new fixture creates a persistent problem. Water efficiency also matters at installation, and the EPA’s WaterSense program labels fixtures that meet performance criteria at lower flow, which is worth choosing in a state with tiered water rates.
The other argument for doing it properly is water damage. A toilet seal leaking onto a subfloor, or a supply connection weeping inside a vanity, causes far more expensive damage than the fixture cost, and both are entirely preventable at installation.

Fixture Installation FAQs
Will you install a fixture I bought myself?
Yes. We will confirm it fits the existing rough in first and flag anything about it that concerns us. Warranty on the fixture stays with the manufacturer.
How long does a toilet installation take?
Usually about an hour to ninety minutes. Flange repair or replacement adds time, and we will tell you if the flange is the real issue.
Why does my toilet rock or keep leaking at the base?
Almost always a damaged, corroded, or low flange. Stacking wax rings hides it temporarily. Repairing the flange is the actual fix.
Do I need new shutoff valves?
If the existing ones are old, corroded, or will not fully close, yes, and it is inexpensive during an installation. Leaving a seized shutoff makes every future repair harder.
Can you install a farmhouse or undermount sink?
Yes. Both usually require cabinet and drain modification because they sit at a different height than what they replace. We will scope that up front.
Do you install pot fillers?
Yes. It involves running a new supply line to the wall behind the range, so we assess the route and give you a real number before starting.
Do fixture installations need a permit?
A straight fixture swap generally does not. Work that alters the drain, waste, vent, or supply piping can, and we will tell you when it applies.
Can you install a bidet seat or a smart toilet?
Yes. Both usually need a nearby electrical receptacle, so tell us what is available and we will confirm before installing.
